Annual Member – The person should possess post graduate degree or diploma in surgical branch (Allopathy). He/she should pay rupees one thousand every year.
Life Member – The person should possess post graduate degree or diploma in surgical branch (Allopathy). He/she should pay one time membership fee of rupees six thousand.
Associate Life Member – Persons engaged in other ancillary branches (allopathy) of medical sciences may be admitted by the association as associate life member. He/she should pay one time membership fee of rupees six thousand.
Overseas Life Member – An Indian surgeon practising in countries other than India may be admitted as OLM (overseas life member). He/she should pay one time fee of US dollar $500. If he/she shifts permanently to India, he/she would be treated as life member.
PG Member – The person who is registered as PG student in the department of surgery (allopathy) may be admitted as PG member. He/she should pay rupees three thousand as fee. If he /she, after completion of PG course, is desirous of upgrading himself/herself as life member, he/she may be admitted as life member on payment of the difference amount in fee as may be prevailing for the life membership at that time. The membership fee for PG members would change if fee for life members change in future. It would be fifty percent of that of life member.
Membership fees mentioned above are the ones prevailing today, they may change from time to time. The executive committee/general body has the right to fix the fee time to time. The decision of the executive body to change the fee shall be kept in the agenda for approval in AGB and needs to be ratified by not less than (2⁄3)rd members present in the meeting.
The executive committee shall have the final rights to decide the eligibility or otherwise of the category to which a person could be admitted as member. In case of any dispute or ambiguity and its decision shall be final.
• All members except associate members and PG members shall be entitled to participate in all activities of the association including the right to vote and to contest elections.
They shall receive official publications.
• All associate members shall be entitled to participate in all activities of the association however they shall not be entitled to vote or contest elections. They shall receive all official publications of the association.
• Members in arrears shall not be entitled to vote or contest elections or hold office.
• PG members shall not be entitled to vote or contest elections, they shall be entitled to participate in all other activities of the association, they shall receive the official publications of the association.
If a member is found to be indulging in any undesirable activity, he/she shall be served with a notice of three months in writing informing him of the action proposed to be taken. He/she shall be given an opportunity to present his /her case before the executive committee. If the executive committee passes a resolution to terminate his/her membership by a majority of three fifth of total executive members and if this action is confirmed in general body meeting by two third majority of members present, his/her membership is deemed as terminated. He/she shall be so informed in writing. The membership fee paid by the guilty member at the time of admission will not be refunded.
